Babylon Rotary's 60th Annual Ferdinand Gutmann Scholarship Awards were presented at a special Scholarship Awards Luncheon at the Long Island Yacht Club on Wednesday, May 22nd.
Babylon Rotary Co-President Charlie Spencer kicked off the proceedings by congratulating this year’s scholarship winners, welcoming our many guests, and introducing key educators from West Islip and West Babylon Schools. He then turned the program over to Marc Horowitz, Chairman of the Babylon Rotary Scholarship Program.

Marc gave a brief history of the Babylon Rotary Scholarship Program, indicating that the value of scholarships awarded by our club is approaching half million dollars. He  introduced members of the Scholarship Committee and described the evaluation/selection process. Marc also noted the generous and continued support of Carolyn Gutmann and the Gutmann family. He then introduced this year’s scholarship winners:

Delal Dilek — West Babylon High School

Jordan Fuentes — North Babylon High School

Pavani Kumar — Babylon High School

Charles Zito — West Islip High School

All but Pavani, who couldn’t attend the meeting, gave a brief talk about their background, college and career aspirations, thanked teachers, mentors and family for helping them achieve their goals, and the Babylon Rotary Club for today’s award.
